Half A Century On and None the Worse For It!
'Bank holiday weather,' said my grandmother,
grim-faced and Macintoshed
as we kids set off across the park
leaving her condemned to stand on blustery corners
while we swung and trampolined
and rode the donkeys and the roundabouts -
a sixties seaside paradise for kids.
'Half-term weather,' said my sister,
as we set off, well-Wellingtoned,
reluctant teenagers in tow,
to slither round the mud of country fair
revelling in crafts and produce,
soaring birds of prey and skilful sheepdogs -
fifty years of soaking by the British rain!

Simply, loved it, Janet!
ReplyDeleteAnd, the below image portraying the poetic line "soaring birds of prey and skilful sheepdogs" is cool and lovely!
