Kindness

of warm straw

rough hands

and strangers' care

breathes into moments

of pain and joy

a sensibility 

remembered eternally.

Inspired by a 92 year old friend who said, 'You don't  always remember what someone said or did but you do remember how they made you feel.' Originally this was a poem about the effect of loving care on the soul. Having watched the video of the capture of Geronimo the Alpaca, I reflected that in fact it is ironically also a comment on the cruelty many people and animals suffer at the hands of those they hoped would welcome and care for them.
